Sunday January 29th 2012 at 4.30pm
The Dora Stoutzker Hall, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
We are delighted to present an all-string programme:
Josek Suk: Serenade in E flat for Strings Op6
William Mathias: Divertimento Op7
Antonin Dvorak: Serenade for Strings Op 22
Tickets from www.rwcmd.ac.uk/events at £13, £11 (concessions), £20 family, £5 students.
Pre-concert chat at 4pm.
Dvorak was Josef Suk’s father in law, and both had a particular affinity for strings, so it will be interesting to compare the two Serenades, composed a generatio apart. William Mathias was a genius who made an enormous contribution to Welsh musical heritage, and he provides a luscious filling for a romantic sandwich.
